Saving Summer

Saving Summer- a special segment brought to you today by PNN (Puggle News Network)

Last night while out for his nightly walk, Bruschi heard that there was a dog lost in the neighborhood and he immediately sprang into action. Him and his Mommy stayed on foot patrol, while Daddy ran home, jumped in the car, and searched the surrounding areas by car. Several of the other neighbors heard what was going on, and also jumped in their cars to search. The missing dog: Summer, a fawn greyhound.

PNN Reporter: So Bruschi, how did the search begin?

Bruschi: Well, while I was out for my nightly walk with the humans, a guy pulled up FRANTIC asking if we had seen his dog Summer. He informed us that she was a very friendly greyhound named Summer, loves cookies, and she escaped out their front door. He told us greyhounds have no sense of smell to be able to trace their way home, and they run very fast. Once I heard she loved cookies, I thought to myself, so do I! I must find her! So me and Mommy went out on foot patrol.

PNN Reporter: How did you think you would find her at night in the dark?

Bruschi: You're right, it was very dark out, but I am half beagle remember, so I just have to follow my nose!

PNN Reporter: How did you find her? How long did it take you? Had you given up hope at any point?

Bruschi: Well, Mommy and I had been on foot for about 20 minutes. We almost turned one direction, but I made a decision to keep on going down the hill, and then we spotted her! She almost looked like a deer!! Mommy shouted "Summer!! Summer!!" Her ears perked up....and then she darted across the street. Mommy called Daddy on the cell phone and told her we spotted Summer! At the same time she hung up the phone.....Summer spotted me!!! She stopped running, and froze on someone's front lawn! Mommy kept asking her if she wanted a cookie......while I made my approach. She saw me and instantly her tail started wagging. I was whimpering trying to get to her...I knew she needed my help! She darted towards me to play and in that same instant, Mommy grabbed her collar.

PNN Reporter: Wow, nice work Bruschi!!

Bruschi: Why thank you! I was quite proud of my little puggle self. I mean, Mommy is the one who spotted Summer, but I truly believe that if she hadn't of seen me, she would have kept running. She saw me and just couldn't resist! BOL! So Daddy came around the corner, helped Mommy call the owner, and we got Summer and her owners happily reunited. I did my good deed for the day!

PNN Reporter: Amazing Bruschi, simply amazing. Did anyone ever tell you that you were a hero?

Bruschi: It wouldn't surprise me if someone thought I was a hero.....My Firefighter Daddy is a hero, so it's in my blood I guess. I will always remember this day.....the day I saved Summer!
