My 6th Birthday Pawty- 8-11-2012

Saturday was my 6th Birthday Pawty and oh what fun we had!!!
I got a delicious cake from Woof Gang Bakery.  It was lined with doggy bone shaped cookies so it was cake and cookies all in one!
SWEET!

Here is my family shot with my mommy, daddy and sister Ebby!
It may look like Mommy has me in a choke hold but don't worry, she was just holding me back from attacking that cake! BOL!

Uncle Mahhhk and Auntie Dahhhcy came to pawty with us too!
(For those of you without a wicked Boston accent, thats Uncle Mark and Auntie Darcy)

Oh Nom Nom Nom, look how patiently Ebby waits while I get the first piece.  I mean, it is MY birthday and all.

After cake, it was time for PRESENTS!

I got a giant stuffed Armadillo! I named him Armi!  Ebby even got a stuffed Bunny seeing I killed her last one, BOL.  I love Armadillos and chase them around my neighborhood so Mommy thought it would be best if I had a pretend one to play with.
Me and My Mommy.....she is the Bestest!

And after that exhausting pawty, I decided to take a nap with Armi.  I was pooped!
Being Six isn't easy ya know!!

Hope you all enjoyed my Pawty Pics!!!

I am almost SIX!

Mommy can hardly believe that I turn SIX on Saturday, August 11th.  So she thought we'd take a trip down Birthday Memory Lane!

My Very 1st Birthday.......a delicious cake made out of mashed potatoes and chicken!  That bakery has since closed and it's a shame because they had amazing doggy desserts!

On my 2nd Birthday, Mommy tried to make me a homemade cake.....it came out more like a giant crispy cookie, but I am not fussy!  I sure did love it!

On my 3rd Birthday, I got a cake from Lainey's Bakery in the mail!  Mommy had to add cool whip to the top because it melted in the mail in the FL heat BOL!  But once again, it was deeeelicious!

On my 4th Birthday, my new sister Ebby had only been with  us for 2 months so she got to be part of my pawty!  Mommy went to a new local doggy bakery and got us delicious cakes!!

And last year was Birthday # 5!  Mommy thought we'd have a Cookie Pawty instead of Cake to mix things up.  Oh what fun me and Ebby had eating cookies and tearing apart stuffies!

Well this year, I turn 6 and Mommy said we are having a pawty on Saturday! I can't wait to see what I get this year!   Already in the mail, my puggle furiends from Jersery, Jack and Oliver, sent me this totally pawesome blanket!
Look, it even has my name on it!
Thanks furiends!

I'll post about my pawty over the weekend!!!

Help Save Lou!

www.donatetolou.blogspot.com

Lou is a 5 year old male puggle whom Mommy met through the Puggle page on Facebook.  He has a cancerous tumor that has wrapped around his rectum causing him to have bloody poops.  Upon further vet and specialist examinations, they determined that the tumor is wrapped around his intestines, and without life saving surgery, Lou will not make it. And as you can imagine, the surgery is quite expensive.
You can read more about Lou in the post above.

As a puggle family, and huge dog advocate, we felt it appropriate to send some money their way so they can try afford this life saving surgery.  Even though we don't have much money ourselves, we know that being part of a Dogs with Blog Community is a comforting place to be when a friend, or even a stranger, is in need, so I thought I would share his information here if you'd like to help.  Even a few dollars makes a difference.  Lou is only 5 years old (just like me!) and Mommy couldn't imagine going through this and would hope that if she was in need, people would help her.  So she is paying it forward now because you just never know what lies ahead!

If you yourself can't donate, please pass the word along through the community. I know Lou and his family would be greatly appreciative of the efforts!

Happy Friday everyone!  Positive thoughts for Lou!!!

WHAT A SURPRISE!!!

Look who showed up and surprised Mommy!  It's Jack and Oliver's Mommy Kourtney!
She came for Ebby's Gotcha Day celebration!!!
We just love her to pieces!
She brought us these deeeeelicious peanut butter filled bones that I couldn't get enough of!
And look, eating and laying down are two of my FAVORITE things and with this, I can do both at the same time! SCORE!
There was also a surprise waiting at the front door!  It was from Preston the Puggle, his little brother Nolan and his Mommy Susan!!  They are so thoughtful to think of Ebby on her special day!
Ebby was showing us what she got out of the box! It's a squeaky platypus with removable squeaky eggs!!! There was also a bag of treats in there, but I ran off with that before Mommy could get a picture! BOL!

Daddy had a Gotcha Day cake made for the humans, and 2 PupCakes for me and Ebby!
How pretty does my sister look in her pawty hat!!
Happy Gotcha Day Ebby!
Mommy and Kourtney made us take a bunch of pictures with the cakes.......I was smiling so big as you can clearly see in the picture. Ebby still patiently waiting for her pawty to begin!
We are FINALLY eating our pupcakes in our bowls.  Nom Nom Nom, and they were deeelicious!
Ebby also got a "BLT" stuffy from Mommy and Daddy.

Ebby here:   Thank you to my wonderful family and my new bestest friend Kourtney for coming to my Gotcha Day Pawty and making me feel so special!
Thank you to Preston and his family for sending me such pawesome presents!
I am one lucky girl to have been adopted by this amazing family!
I look forward to many more Gotcha Day celebrations!!!

It's almost Ebby's Gotcha Day!

Ebby's 2nd Gotcha day is Saturday, June 9th!
It's hard to believe I have had a sister for 2 years now already!
Last night I wanted to test out her new pawty hat.  I think Pink is definitely my color, don't you?

Let's take a look back at Ebby over the past 2 years.......

This was the very first day, June 9, 2010, that Mommy picked her up from rescue .  She was supposed to be our 3rd foster, but after a short time, Mommy knew she was going to become a permanent fixture in our family.  She was so shy and timid, and after living on the streets, I can understand why.

This was me meeting her for the first time.  I had already had my rounds with Tyson and that didn't work out, and I was missing my foster sister Maggie oh so much.  I had never met a dog like Ebby before, and she looked scary! BOL!
But in no time at all, we became the best of furiends!  We loved emptying the toy box together......we are a good team....she kills the squeaker and then I pull out all the stuffing!

I even showed her all the comfy spots in the house.  She had never been allowed on furniture before we think because it took her a long time to come onto couches and soft surfaces.  But she learned from the best and now we can't get her off the couch, bed, pillows, blankets, you name it BOL!

She even had to learn that we dress up in outfits.  While I thoroughly enjoy dressing up, this was all new to Ebby.  She sure does look cute though! This was also the year she busted into the halloween candy and ate over 2 lbs of candy! BOL BOL BOL!

And here is a picture from Ebby's First Gotcha Day last June 9th.  She was so pooped after her cookie pawty, that she wanted to nap on, guess.....a pillow (with my face on it of course!) BOL

Ebby, thank you for coming into our family.
You have made this family complete and we can't imagine not having you here.
You keep me company when the humans go to work, and you have taught me how to be a dog.  I never knew how to pee on trees or poles before!  So we both learned things from each other.  We were meant to be!!
We can't wait to celebrate your special day on Saturday!
(And I can't wait for the PupCakes!)

Love you Ebby Girl!!!

Let's Go Celtics!

Well, Mommy has been playing with this new "app" called Instagram and of course, me and Ebby have been her guinea pigs.  She thinks I am just so cute, sitting so patiently waiting for some fruit and cottage cheese.  Do I look amused to you?

Anyways, the Celtics are in the playoffs again, so that means it's time for me to break out my Celtics jersey!!!  I wish these games were on earlier.  This is past a puggles's bedtime, don't they know!

Well, Ebby is trying to get in the picture and she's rooting for the Celtics too (and she's happy that she isn't dressed up in any sort of "gear").
Game 6 tomorrow v Philly.  Celts are up 3 games to 2!  Hoping for a win tomorrow night so we don't have to go to a game 7!

Let's Go Celtics!
Oh and PEE-S........Mommy is ecstatic that the Lakers are OUT of the playoffs!  She hates them and their players. She says "Peace OUT  Mr. World Peace!"
(for those of you who don't know, that is what the jackass (oops excuse my puggle mouth) Ron Artest changed his name to.  What a LOSER!

A day of rememberance, a day of sorrow....RIP Sweet Brady

It is with a heavy heart that I have to report that one of Mommy's closest friends in the world, Caitlyn,  lost her baby Brady last night.  If you recall a few months ago, I had posted about how he was diagnosed with Cardio Myopathy. Sadly, yesterday his battle came to an end.
Her worst fear in the world was coming home from work to find him........and her worst fear came true.
He was alive when she got home but had collapsed, barely breathing, and lost control of his functions.
When Mommy got the text message, she burst into tears and cried all night.
Brady was only five years old......he would have turned six next month.

Brady was a beagle mix who was very much loved by his family and all who met him.
His family is suffering greatly right now as they had to put him to sleep.
His sister, Maddie, crossed Rainbow Bridge less than 2 years ago to cancer and they were the best of friends.  So I am picturing them together, reunited at last, romping through all the green grass under the bright rays of sunshine!

Brady, you have a special place in the heart of my Mommy and of course of your Mommy and Daddy and all those who knew and love you.  Your memory will FOREVER live on in our hearts.

Mommy found this poem and would like to dedicate it to Brady:

The Last Battle

If it should be that I grow frail and weak,

And pain should keep me from my sleep,

Then will you do what must be done,

For this, the last battle, can't be won.

You will be sad I understand,

But don't let grief then stay your hand,

For on this day, more than the rest,

Your love and friendship must stand the test.

We have had so many happy years,

You wouldn't want me to suffer so.

When the time comes, please, let me go.

Take me to where to my needs they'll tend,

Only, stay with me till the end

And hold me firm and speak to me,

Until my eyes no longer see.

I know in time you will agree,

It is a kindness you do to me.

Although my tail its last has waved,

From pain and suffering I have been saved.

Don't grieve that it must be you,

Who has to decide this thing to do;

We've been so close,we two, these years,

Don't let your heart hold any tears.

And also, Mommy fell in love with this poem:  Caitlyn, may your heart ache a little less.
ROOM IN YOUR HEART
Sorrow fills a barren space;
you close your eyes and see my face
and think of times I made you laugh,
the love we shared, the bond we had,
the special way I needed you -
the friendship shared by just we two.

The day's too quiet, the world seems older,
the wind blows now a little colder.
You gaze into the empty air
and look for me, but I'm not there -
I'm in heaven and I watch you,
and I see the world around you too.

I see little souls wearing fur,
souls who bark and souls who purr
born unwanted and unloved -
I see all this and more above -
I watch them suffer, I see them cry,
I see them lost, I watch them die.
I see unwanted thousands born -
and when they die, nobody mourns.

These little souls wearing fur
(Some who bark and some who purr)
are castaways who - unlike me -
will never know love or security.
A few short months they starve and roam,
Or caged in shelters - nobody takes home.
They're special too (furballs of pleasure),
filled with love and each one, a treasure.

My pain and suffering came to an end,
so don't cry for me, my person, my friend.
But think of the living -
those souls with fur
(some who bark and some who purr) -
And though our bond can't be broken apart,
make room for another in your home and
your heart.
