It is with a heavy heart that I have to report that one of Mommy's closest friends in the world, Caitlyn, lost her baby Brady last night. If you recall a few months ago, I had posted about how he was diagnosed with Cardio Myopathy. Sadly, yesterday his battle came to an end.
Her worst fear in the world was coming home from work to find him........and her worst fear came true.
He was alive when she got home but had collapsed, barely breathing, and lost control of his functions.
When Mommy got the text message, she burst into tears and cried all night.
Brady was only five years old......he would have turned six next month.
Brady was a beagle mix who was very much loved by his family and all who met him.
His family is suffering greatly right now as they had to put him to sleep.
His sister, Maddie, crossed Rainbow Bridge less than 2 years ago to cancer and they were the best of friends. So I am picturing them together, reunited at last, romping through all the green grass under the bright rays of sunshine!
Brady, you have a special place in the heart of my Mommy and of course of your Mommy and Daddy and all those who knew and love you. Your memory will FOREVER live on in our hearts.
Mommy found this poem and would like to dedicate it to Brady:
The Last Battle
If it should be that I grow frail and weak,
And pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then will you do what must be done,
For this, the last battle, can't be won.
You will be sad I understand,
But don't let grief then stay your hand,
For on this day, more than the rest,
Your love and friendship must stand the test.
We have had so many happy years,
You wouldn't want me to suffer so.
When the time comes, please, let me go.
Take me to where to my needs they'll tend,
Only, stay with me till the end
And hold me firm and speak to me,
Until my eyes no longer see.
I know in time you will agree,
It is a kindness you do to me.
Although my tail its last has waved,
From pain and suffering I have been saved.
Don't grieve that it must be you,
Who has to decide this thing to do;
We've been so close,we two, these years,
Don't let your heart hold any tears.
Don't grieve that it must be you,
Who has to decide this thing to do;
We've been so close,we two, these years,
Don't let your heart hold any tears.
And also, Mommy fell in love with this poem: Caitlyn, may your heart ache a little less.
Sorrow fills a barren space;
you close your eyes and see my face
and think of times I made you laugh,
the love we shared, the bond we had,
the special way I needed you -
the friendship shared by just we two.
The day's too quiet, the world seems older,
the wind blows now a little colder.
You gaze into the empty air
and look for me, but I'm not there -
I'm in heaven and I watch you,
and I see the world around you too.
I see little souls wearing fur,
souls who bark and souls who purr
born unwanted and unloved -
I see all this and more above -
I watch them suffer, I see them cry,
I see them lost, I watch them die.
I see unwanted thousands born -
and when they die, nobody mourns.
These little souls wearing fur
(Some who bark and some who purr)
are castaways who - unlike me -
will never know love or security.
A few short months they starve and roam,
Or caged in shelters - nobody takes home.
They're special too (furballs of pleasure),
filled with love and each one, a treasure.
My pain and suffering came to an end,
so don't cry for me, my person, my friend.
But think of the living -
those souls with fur
(some who bark and some who purr) -
And though our bond can't be broken apart,
make room for another in your home and
your heart.

I know exactly how you feel on Wednesday my 7 year old puggle Papagorgio was acting extremely ill overnight. I brought him to the vet and they did an ultrasound yesterday morning. They found out Cancer had comsumed his liver. when something must of ruptured causing him to bleed into his abdomen. After spending a couple last hours together I had to let my man go. My heart goes out to you and your family.
We are so sorry for Brady's family. Mommy is crying as she's typing this. We know you will help his family with their healing.
